Ambika Devi has painted a lovely image of the Butter Thief - Krishna in this Madhubani Painting. One of the favourite leelas of lord Krishna was to steal butter from the houses of Gopis who worked all day to churn soft delicious cream from milk. Krishna who loved butter was known as the 'Maakhan Chor' in Vrindavan. This painting depicts Krishna stealing maakhanfrom the Gopis, as they carry creamy delicious butter on their heads.
