Silk Road

The Silk Road is a historically important network of trade routes that linked the regions of the ancient world from China to the Mediterranean Sea. The Silk Road was not a single route, but rather a web of routes that connected different regions of Asia, Europe and Africa. These routes were used to transport goods such as silk, spices, precious metals, and other commodities.

Part 1: Anatolia - Ayla's World
As you open your eyes, you find yourself in ancient Anatolia, surrounded by the sounds of the bustling bazaar and the smells of exotic spices. Whilst perusing through the Persian carpets you bump into Ayla, a young girl who shares fascinating stories of the Silk Road from her grandmother. Feeling the pull of adventure you decide to embark on a journey together eastward, following the winding routes of the Silk Road.

Part 2: Samarkand - The Jewel of the Silk Road
You travel through the harsh desert terrain and climb over towering mountain passes, finally arriving in the ancient city of Samarkand. Here, you experience the incredible architecture of the jewel of the Silk Road and you are amazed by the intricately carved furniture but what really catches your eye is the unique blue dye made from the lapis lazuli stone.

Part 3: Bharata - The Land of Spices
Continuing eastward, you arrive in Bharata, a colourful land with delicious food. Here, you trade for the finest spices and arts, taking in the sights and sounds of the magnificent temples. You enjoy the thrill of bartering with local merchants yearning to acquire your enchanting blue dye.

Part 4: China - The Birthplace of the Silk Road
You travel across the vast expanse of the Himalayas, finally arriving in China, the birthplace of the Silk Road. Here, you experience the flourishing cities of the Han dynasty, encountering scholars and intellectuals who share their knowledge of science, philosophy and art with you. You marvel at the fine craftsmanship of porcelain and jade.

Part 5: Japan - The End of the Journey
As you cross the sea into Japan, you arrive in the era of the Yamato clan, where you experience the emerging Shinto culture. You are fascinated by the delicate beauty of the cherry blossom season and handmade urushi lacquer. As your journey comes to an end, you reflect on all the many experiences you have had along the way.
